Whaleback LIghthouse

Built in 1872 this is one of three offshore lighthouses visible in New Hampshire. Whaleback is owned and operated by the town of Kittery, Maine and is active in the middle of the Piscataqua River that runs between the two states. Made of unpainted granite blocks. The light is the third built on this location and has been automated since 1963.
