Portsmouth Naval Shipyard
Kittery, ME

A recent Supreme Court case proved recently that the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is located officially in Kittery Maine. Established among the first federal shipyards in 1800, PNS carries on the tradition of John Paul Jones who launched the Ranger nearby in 1777. From tall ships to nuclear submarines, the shipyard has operated continuously for over 200 years. Although no currently accessible to the general public, it is visible from Portsmouth and Kittery and currently is active in submarine repair.
