Wiggly Bridge
York, ME

Photo courtesy of J. Dennis Robinson.

Created by Hussey Manufacturing (now Hussey Seating Company) of nearby North Berwick, this junior suspension bridge has been a popular York landmark since the 1930s. Legend says the name Wiggly Bridge came from a troupe of Girl Scouts in the 1940s because the bridge wiggles when crossed. Recently refurbished, the bridge runs from the dam of Old Mill Road to the Steedman Woods walking area. This was the site of a early York mill and the bridge crosses a tidal area between Barrell Mill Pond and the York River. It is maintained by the town of York.(See also Steedman Woods)

HOURS: Dawn to dusk
ADMISSION: Free
ADDRESS: York, ME 03802
